Greenville Set for a Night of Elegance at the 101st Annual Ball
Mark your calendars, folks! On November 23, 2024, the charming city of Greenville will come alive with the glitz and glamour of The Assembly’s 101st Annual Ball. This much-anticipated event will be held at the prestigious Poinsett Club, and you won’t want to miss it!
Celebrating Generations of Tradition
Founded way back in March 1923, The Assembly proudly holds the title of the oldest ladies’ social club in Greenville. With a history that spans over a century, this multigenerational group is devoted to sharing joyous moments not just amongst their members, but with their friends and family as well. The club’s constitution emphasizes the importance of this annual ball, creating a cherished tradition that is happily passed down through the years. It’s all about fostering connections and celebrating heritage!
Meet This Year’s Debutantes
As part of this year’s celebrations, three lovely ladies will be presented as Assembly Debutantes, each with familial connections to the club that underscore its longstanding legacy.
First up is Miss Clary Elizabeth Bergquist. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Eric Bergquist from Greenville, Clary comes from a family deeply rooted in The Assembly. Her grandmother, Mrs. Harold Calhoun Smith III, is not just a proud member; she is also carrying forward a family tradition as her late mother was a Charter Member. Clary will be escorted by her brother, Mr. Scott Eric Bergquist, junior.
Next, we have the talented Miss Amanda McGuire Earle, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Oliver Perry Earle IV from Simpsonville. Amanda’s ties to The Assembly run deep, with her grandmother being a member and her great-grandmother also serving in the club. She will be presented by her mother and escorted by Mr. Herbert Earle Kneeland.
Finally, the lovely Miss Margaret Chapman McKay, daughter of Ms. Sarah Cleta Ellis McKay and Mr. Harold Chapman McKay from Charleston, will grace the event. She carries a strong legacy as her great-grandmother was a Charter Member of The Assembly as well. Margaret will be escorted by Mr. Charles Trent Beaumont Hubbard. We can already hear the applause!
